What it does

Jira doesn't tell you how long a work item has been sitting in its current status. This panel does. On any work item it shows:

• Time in current status, with green / amber / red aging colors
• Issue age, time since last change, and time since last comment
• Time per status — where the time actually went, as colored bars with percentages
• A "possibly stale" warning when an item has had no activity for too long

Install

Install from the Atlassian Marketplace (search for "Time in Status Panel for Jira"), or ask your Jira admin to. The app requests two permissions: read-only access to work item data, and Forge app storage for its own settings. It works immediately after install — no configuration required.

Use

1. Open any work item in Jira.
2. Click the + button under the title (or the apps icon) and choose Time in Status.
3. To keep it always visible, open the panel's ⋯ menu and choose Show for all work items.

Times are computed live from the work item's own history each time the panel opens — nothing is stored or synced.

Configure thresholds (optional)

Jira admins can tune when colors change: go to Jira Settings → Apps → Time in Status. Three values control the panel — amber after N days in status (default 3), red after N days (default 7), and the no-activity warning after N days (default 14). Days accept decimals (0.5 = 12 hours). Changes apply the next time a panel loads, across all projects.

Privacy

The app runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform, makes no network calls outside Atlassian, and stores no user or issue data — only the three admin-set threshold numbers. Read the full privacy policy.
